House Fire

House Fire

Recently there was a house fire in Hamilton County Indiana. The neighbor to the house called the fire department after coming home and seeing the fire at 4:30 p.m. Soon after, the home owner arrived. The controversy of this is that there were almost no fire hydrants near by. The hose for the water extended to 2,000 feet! Because of this, 12 firetrucks were at the scene.

I think that there should be a law on how many fire hydrants have to be in certain places. It is very dangerous that there wasn't enough. This couldv'e cause the entire house to burn down. The fire might even have spread. Clearly, because of the 12 trucks, there was a need for more fire hydrants. Therefore, I think that either the fire department themselves, or even the home owner, should petition for a new law on required fire hydrants or at least look into it.

  1. I agree. This could greatly affect the saftey of firefighters and the situation they are involved in. It is important to provide them with the safest way to put out fires

  2. I also agree. Without enough fire htdrants in areas there could be massive property damage when a fire happens. Not to mention the fact that it makes the fire fighters job even harder.

  3. I would agree that this is a problem. What if those other trucks had to attend to another fire? I like the idea that a law should be issued for a certain number of fire hydrants in a certain space.

  4. I agree with you Kim. The fire could have been put out a lot faster if there were fire hydrants that were closer.

  5. I agree with Kim. The fact that there were no hydrants near the fire is unacceptable. Fires are hard enough to put out with nearby water supplies, and nearly impossible if the water is far away.
